We have all witnessed the Israeli attacks on Gaza in the last few days, and probably by now most of us have made their own opinions on the conflict, some stand with the attacks some against, there are two different ways to look at the current situation:
Hamas claims that it is defending its self and it’s people from the Israeli invasion and occupation.
Israel claims that it is defending its self and it’s people from the Hamas rocket attacks.
Hamas claims that Israel is attacking civilians.
Israel claims that Hamas is using civilians as shelter.
We can not know for sure which point of view is more likely true, but one thing we know for sure is that booth sides are guilty for the innocent blood spilled on both sides.
Who is winning the polls?
This poll is made on a Swedish popular forum and this is the result of more than 400 votes
The question is: Which part in the Gaza conflict do sympathize for?
Israel: 57 % (238 votes)
Hamas: 26% (108 votes)
Haven’t made up my mind yet: 17% (71 votes)
It is pretty clear to me from the media and the people around me in the western society that the majority stand with Israel against Hamas, probably because Hamas is mirrored in the media to be a terrorist organization.
How to make your view better heard?
Protesting might be a good start to draw attention to the conflict, but once the conflict already has the attention of the world media it becomes unnecessary, the efforts spent in these demonstrations can be spent a lot more effectively in sending your message to the rest of the world in different ways, remember, the only messages that are sent by demonstrating is that Arabs are pissed off, angry, out of control and want nothing but revenge, and that is not something very new to the world plus if you think about it, by demonstrating you do not explain your view or opinion on the conflict, people won’t be able to understand your reasoning.
you can make your voice better heard through blogging, debating with other people around you, writing an article for the local news paper, in this way you can convince people using reason, logic, emotion, history, examples, comparison, which is a lot more effective than rioting with the police and causing traffic jams.
Here is good example of how to make your voice heard, this is a clip of Rania queen of Jordan on CNN.
For me, I will stick to my opinion that violence is not the answer, and it never was, and will never be, the only thing it will do is spill more innocent blood.
Same in UK, all is for Israel they only get one side of the story.
Thats queen Noor btw
