Remember when the idea of Intelligent design was presented and supported by religious ‘’scientists” as a ‘’scientific” answer to theories such us the theory of evolution to help themselves and their likes walk around evidence that contradicts with their believes.
For those of who don’t know much about these theories here is a very short and basic understanding that will help you understand the rest of the article.
The theory of evolution explains and describes the changes in gene frequencies that occur in populations of living organisms over time, it does not address the origin of life nor anything that has to do with cosmology such as the big bang theory, which is a common misconception.
Intelligent design basically says that there must be a designer behind all of this intelligent creation, fortunately, Intelligent design is not accepted today as a scientific theory because it can not be tested through the scientific method.
Well, surfing through the web I came across this satire by the Onion news:
Evangelical Scientists Refute Gravity With New ‘Intelligent Falling’ Theory
KANSAS CITY, KS—As the debate over the teaching of evolution in public schools continues, a new controversy over the science curriculum arose Monday in this embattled Midwestern state. Scientists from the Evangelical Center For Faith-Based Reasoning are now asserting that the long-held "theory of gravity" is flawed, and they have responded to it with a new theory of Intelligent Falling.
"Things fall not because they are acted upon by some gravitational force, but because a higher intelligence, ‘God’ if you will, is pushing them down," said Gabriel Burdett, who holds degrees in education, applied Scripture, and physics from Oral Roberts University.
I always find it difficult to argue with religious people on matters such as evolution, no matter how much supporting evidence you provide them with, many of them will completely deny the truth that the theory carries simply because it contradicts with the tellings of their ancient scripts.
And the other few that try to think of themselves as ”people of science” by accepting such theories still believe in a mysterious supernatural designer behind it.
Which is quite stupid if you ask me, because the theory of evolution on its own, with or without a designer behind it, disproves the Abrahaimc truth that we originated from an Adam and an Eva, which is a fundamental part of creationism according to the Abrahamic religions.
If the theory of gravity contradicted with the scripts of the Abrahamic religion we would find people today accepting ”theories” such as Intelligent falling simply to walk around the evidence to protect their believes.
Funny yet sad.
I have to agree with Mary Joy on this one, it’s absolutely true, no matter how hard you try to convince a man of belief that he is false, it’s not gonna happen.
“Intelligent Falling” ? I fall because God pushes me down, hmm, interesting. Funny how much influence people of religion can have on our community. I wouldn’t be surprised if tomorrow my kids studied that physics is derived from the Q’uran, and the periodic table was originally found painted on some cave by a muslim scholar who talked to God. *rolls eyes*
What does “this” refer to ?
hmm see here is the problem when you read a bit based on young earth theorist and trying to apply it to islam.
usually when you get to islam, we don’t really have much young earth theory supporters (unless they take genealogy to heart, which they kinda should but i never got an explanation for why they don’t) .
We on the other hand have some references for the earth being inhabited before the human race was introduced and we have the idea of relativistic time line. So the belief is that there is no contradiction between evolution and islam, its just that the human race was introduced separately and thats why there is the missing link (which one i’m not sure).
Even in Christianity its a bit less uniform that you imagine, what the Anglicans believe is entirely different than what the Presbyterians do for instance. and Judaism is an entirely different playing field since you can actually be an athiest jew and it wouldn’t be contradictary so be careful with your sweeping statements.
what are you studying in college ( i presume you’re in college)
good thing you are reading, just keep an open mind about all arguments.
On the other hand i didn’t quite understand what you are referring but it came off as wrong since there are a lot of interesting counter theories that come from having another inhabitants of earth (such as inter marriage
) and so on and so forth, there is a stronger case to be made about intelligent design in islam as well … either way keep and open mind and read (ie. keep on doing what you are doing)
There is no alumnus, faculty or staff member by the name of Gabriel Burdett from Oral Roberts University.

Is that because this is a satire(not real news)?

according to stuart chaste
“to those who believe, no proof is necessary. and to those who don’t believe, no proof is possible”
then i guess that’s how it is. ^_^
